Gleaners Food Bank is honored by our community's willingness to donate and support the food bank through food drives and personal contributions of vital, nutritious food and critical grocery products!

Chase Bank Food Drive to Kick-Off Hunger Action Month September 1st!

As more local families face empty cupboards, Chase has donated two new food delivery trucks to Gleaners Food Bank! The trucks were presented at a special event on Monument Circle to kick off Hunger Action Month.  Senator Richard Lugar and Congressman Andre Carson took part in the presentation. The public was invited to participate by bringing a food donation and receive a Chase recyclable shopping bag. 7,031 pounds were donated by the community and $127 dollars collected for Gleaners Food Bank!

The trucks will increase Gleaners’ ability to collect and distribute food to its more than 350 partner agencies in 21 counties. Chase also donated funds to help with the operation of these trucks for the first year. Find the full Press Release here!

Sallie Mae hosted their employee food drive and CANstruction event, our very own Carrie Fulbright and Robert Wilson were part of the judging team!  Here are some of the photos from the event, featured left to right... Attorney General Zoeller's 2010 March Against Hunger Food Drive!
We are pleased to announce the results of the March which raised the monetary equivalent of more than 50 tons of food. Three Indianapolis law offices were the top food bank donors this year. They are:
 
  • Large law firm division (for a second year) - Barnes & Thornburg - $10,492 and 1,426 pounds of food
  • Small/Sole Proprietor law firm division - Rubin & Levin - $1,045 and 10 pounds of food
  • Public/Non Profit - Office of United States Trustee, Indianapolis/Region 10 - $520 and 140 pounds of food

January:
The Colts, WISH-TV, and MyINDY hosted a “Hoosiers Helping Hoosiers” Food Drive at Lucas Oil Stadium. The drive, presented
by Toyota, brought in 4,126 pounds of food and $3,012.00!

White River State Park celebrated Martin Luther King Jr. Day with a food drive that brought in over 10,428 pounds of food!

February:
The Chef’s Academy’s “Chili Cook-Off” raised $1,000 for Gleaners!

March:
First Lady Cheri Daniels announced the results of the “Hoosier Helping Hoosiers” food drive.
More than 70,000 food items and $15,700 were raised to benefit all nine Indiana
food banks. Over 14,000 pounds came to Gleaners Food Bank.

“Scouting For Food” drive brought in over 11,000 pounds of food to Gleaners for  central and southeastern Indiana’s hungry!

The Purduettes, the StoutField & Garden City Children’s Choir and the Ben Davis Show Choir (pictured above) performed. Thanks to organizer Sara Gasiorowski, Wayne Township Food Service, and sponsors, the concert brought in over $6,000 for the program!

April:
80 Indianapolis PepsiCo employees volunteered at Gleaners for their National Day of Service. The PepsiCo employees assembled food boxes for seniors, weekend food bags for children and helped serve clients at Gleaners’ Community Cupboard food pantry! PepsiCo has provided over 300 million pounds of product to Feeding America over the past five years.

May
Indiana Attorney General Greg Zoeller's “March Against Hunger” competition to benefit Indiana’s food banks brought in a total of 6,405 pounds of food along with $18,825 in monetary contributions!

Over 9,000 people came to hear the Dalai Lama speak at Conseco Fieldhouse. The event was the single largest interfaith gathering ever
held in Indianapolis and raised over $60,000 for IHI to benefit Umoja and Gleaners Food Bank. 

Over 183,400 pounds of food were brought directly to Gleaners as the result of the National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive!

June:
Marsh Supermarkets presented Gleaners with a check for $11,377.70! The donation was a result of the “Food For All” campaign.

July:
