Well Dunn Award
This past August, Pamela Altmeyer, President and CEO of Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, Inc., was presented with the Indiana Fever-Harrison College "Well Dunn Award". This award, named after the Fever's Coach Lin Dunn, honors Indiana citizens who have made a real difference and have had an overwhelming impact on the lives of others.
Before the game, President Altmeyer was called down to center court where the following announcement was made, "During her three decade effort to end hunger in our community, Pamela Altmeyer Alvey has served at the helm of Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, helped establish food banks affiliated with Feeding America, organized the first statewide network of food banks, created a partnership with the State to channel food more quickly to charities throughout Indiana, masterminded the first equitable allocation system that was adopted nationally, helped pilot a senior food program monthly serving 4000+ elders, participates in the Mayor’s Food Network, supports the work of the Inter-Faith Hunger Initiative, and most recently established partnerships to open the Community Cupboard, South West that is serving more than 3600 people each month. Gleaners mission is to help charities feed the hungry and so far this year has brought over 22 million pounds of product into the community to accomplish that goal."
