This Saturday, May 8th, marks the 18th Annual National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive. Letter Carriers across the country, in conjunction with the United States Postal Service, will be collecting non-perishable food items to help families in need.
Here in our area, Branch 39 of the National Association of Letter Carriers will be collecting food as they deliver your mail on Saturday. Simply place your food donations in a bag and place it at or in your mailbox. What could be simpler?!
Last year, over 313,000 pounds of food was collected in Indianapolis and surrounding areas by Letter Carriers. The food collected in Indianapolis will be distributed to Gleaners and local food pantries. Food collected in other Indiana communities will stay in those communities to help feed their neighbors in need.
The drive is sponsored by the National Association of Letter Carriers, the U.S. Postal Service, Campbell Soup Company, Valpak Direct Marketing Systems, Marsh Supermarkets, AFL-CIO and United Way.
