CSFP-Commodity Supplemental Food Program
Through the USDA and the State of Indiana, Gleaners serves low income seniors via the Commodity Supplemental Food Program. Participants receive a monthly, 40-pound box of supplemental food at one of more than 80 sites.
Thanks to the program, at-risk seniors don’t have to choose between food and life-saving necessities like medication.
A story to share...
The senior recently shared how much the food she gets from Gleaners means to her. She lives in low income housing and watches her pennies very carefully. For her, her major extravagance is the newspaper. She knows it’s not providing her with shelter, heat nor food, but the paper keeps her informed…it’s very important to her. So she gets to spend a little extra money on her “extravagance” because she is able to supplement her food budget with food from us.
