Land O’Lakes Donates 40,000 lbs. of Product

(ST. PAUL, Minn.) Feb. 22, 2012….Land O’Lakes, Inc. today donated 40,000 pounds of LAND O LAKES® American Cheese in 5 lb. loaves to Indiana Food Banks, including Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, Inc., Catholic Charities Terre Haute and Food Finders Food Bank.
The donation is Land O’Lakes 27th donation in the First Run program. As part of the First Run program, Land O’Lakes has committed to donating truckloads of fresh product to food banks quarterly to help alleviate hunger nationwide.
“As a national, farmer-owned cooperative, Land O’Lakes is committed to helping the growing number of people struggling to put food on their table,” said Land O’Lakes Foundation Executive Director Lydia Botham. “The First Run program provides a unique opportunity for Land O’Lakes to provide a fresh, nutritious product to families who can enjoy it.”
“Gleaners Food Bank is proud to have partners such as Land O’Lakes that provide food for the families who depend on our local emergency hunger relief network,” said Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, Inc. President and CEO Cindy Hubert. “Nutritious donations such as these provide sustenance and hope for our hungry neighbors.”
The Indiana donation is one of three First Run donations this quarter totaling 120,000 lbs. of product. Donations also are being made today in Jonesboro, Ark., and Omaha, Neb.
