Volunteers are essential to the food bank's work. Volunteers help in every food bank activity from warehouse work to special events. Sign up now!

Salvage: Gleaners' salvage volunteers are trained to sort and repack food and critical grocery products. Because so much salvage is processed at the food bank, it is important to have salvage volunteers working each day, Monday through Friday, 6:30 am to 5:00 pm. Occasionally weekend and evening crews are also needed. A commitment of at least four hours is needed.

Distribution: Distribution volunteers are required to process the nearly 400 active user charities' product orders. It is a full-time job shared by lots of volunteers who are needed in this area Monday through Friday, 6:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Clerical Assistance: Volunteers help Gleaners accurately maintain its records and files. Research, mailings and data entry are also regular volunteer duties Monday through Friday, 6:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Drivers: Volunteers make food pick-ups and let Gleaners expand its base of donors. Valid driver's license, experience in driving a truck and a knack for general directions are required. During holiday seasons multiple openings for volunteer drivers exist!

Speakers Bureau Representatives: Visit church groups, neighborhood groups, schools, etc., and tell the food bank's story. The Development Department makes these assignments and arranges volunteer training. To learn more about becoming a speaker, please call or write us and we'll send you a Speakers Bureau Application.

Special Events: Events include food drives and fund raisers which occur throughout the year. Volunteers who express an interest are contacted with specific opportunities as event dates approach.
