After I pay my rent each month, I only have a couple hundred dollars leftover. It’s hard enough for me to buy food let alone a bus pass to get where I need to go. I’m so very glad you were here today.” – a Hoosier Veteran
Brianna, our SNAP Outreach Specialist, assisted this man with submitting a SNAP application and as she thought about his need to access better transportation, she mentioned to him that veterans are able to ride the IndyGo buses if they complete a program application. He was ecstatic and said, “I had no idea that program existed! I will make sure that I apply.”
We were happy to help make this veteran’s day a little brighter by providing him with services right when he needed it the most. Getting enough to eat is a battle military veterans don’t deserve to face.
