1/13/17 - Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana announced a $10,463 grant from Caterpillar’s philanthropic organization, the Caterpillar Foundation, to provide food to individuals who face hunger in Johnson County. A member of the Feeding America network, Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, is one of 34 food banks nationwide to receive a grant.

Each year, 42 million people in the United States face hunger, including 12.2% of people in the Johnson County community. Thanks in part to a $10,463 Feeding America grant from the Caterpillar Foundation, Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana is able to provide 7 mobile pantries in Johnson County.
“The Caterpillar Foundation is committed to alleviating poverty in the communities in which we live and work. We are proud to partner with Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana to support individuals in Johnson County who may not know where their next meal will come from,” said Michele Sullivan, president of the Caterpillar Foundation.
The Caterpillar Foundation’s national investment will help 300,000 people facing hunger in Caterpillar communities in 44 counties. Caterpillar Foundation has helped provide more than 5 million meals to Caterpillar communities since 2015.
Thanks to the generous support this grant has already provided in Johnson County, Gleaners served 1,540 individuals through 24,774 pounds of food distributed from September 1st through November 30th.
