INDIANAPOLIS – Gleaners Food Bank is excited to announce the expansion and opening of Community Cupboard, an on-site food pantry. We invite you to join Gleaners for a ribbon cutting and open house at 4:30 p.m. on Monday, May 2nd to learn more about the services and programs offered by Community Cupboard.
“The Community Cupboard is much more than just a food pantry, it is a necessity in our community. The expansion allows us to serve more families, who will be able to sit comfortably inside, out of the weather elements, as they wait to shop for nutritious food. We will be offering cooking classes and nutrition education to help our shoppers better feed themselves and their families. We are grateful to the donors that understood the need, and joined us in this expansion to care for and feed our hungry neighbors ,” said President and CEO, Cindy Hubert.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at 4:30 p.m., followed by an open house and tours of the expanded facility. Ribbon-cutting speakers include Cindy Hubert (Gleaners President & CEO), Jamie Browning (Chairman of the Gleaners Board of Directors), Congressman Andre Carson, and IMPD Chief Troy Riggs.

The need for food assistance has not diminished in our community. The newly expanded Community Cupboard will serve nearly 5,000 Hoosier families each month with great respect and dignity. Modeled after the country’s best food pantries, Community Cupboard was designed to give our neighbors the feel of shopping in a grocery store. It has an inside waiting area to protect clients from Indiana’s hot and cold weather throughout the year, and the wider shopping aisles and carts make it easier for clients to find nutritious food that their families will enjoy.
