Gleaners Receives 500 Gallons of Milk Thanks to Prairie Farms

On Thursday June 29th, Prairie Farms stopped by Gleaners Food Bank's warehouse to drop off a 500 gallon donation of 2% milk.

According to Feeding America®, milk is one of the items most requested by Feeding America® food bank clients, yet there is a nationwide shortage because it is rarely donated. On average, Feeding America Food Banks are only able to provide the equivalent of one gallon of milk per person per year. Many often don't think about donating dairy products to their local food bank because dairy is perishable, but thanks to our friends at Prairie Farms, more Hoosier families will have access to milk this summer.

This milk will be a great help to local families to get them the calcium, vitamin D, and potassium they need.
