Indiana Spine Group (ISG) is joining forces with Gleaners Food Bank to raise awareness of childhood hunger and help feed hungry Hoosiers. ISG is hosting Steps to End Hunger 5K
on Saturday evening June 25 at ISG in Carmel. The Steps to End Hunger 5K benefits the Gleaners BackSacks: Weekend Food for Kids
program which provides kids with food when they are not in school.
More than 12,500 food insecure kids live in Hamilton County - that’s close to one in every six children who do not have enough to eat to be healthy. In greater Indianapolis, nearly 100,000 children are food insecure. The BackSacks: Weekend Food for Kids reduces hunger and lowers school absenteeism while providing the nutritional support necessary for improved academic performance.
The Steps to End Hunger 5K is ISG’s way to help raise awareness of a well-masked issue that affects families throughout Indiana. “We are proud to be hosting this event and are grateful to our sponsors who are supporting ISG, so that we can, in turn, support the efforts of Gleaners and their volunteers.” ISG CEO Hardy Sikand said. “Our group of physicians are incredible, socially-conscious individuals and believe in giving back to their communities and to their patients as well.”
Festivities include fun for the entire family. Attendees will be able to enjoy music, food vendors, bounce house, face painting, a rookie run for kids 3-10 years old, and more.
