The central Indiana hunger relief community came together last month for the 2025 Hunger and Health Breakfast, hosted by Gleaners and the Indianapolis Business Journal. The breakfast is a time for leaders in health care and hunger relief to discuss the impact these issues have on our neighbors.

At this year’s event on Thursday, Feb. 27, Gleaners President & CEO Fred Glass gave a keynote address, which was followed by a panel of four passionate community leaders committed to poverty alleviation.

That panel included Steve Campbell, Vice President of Communications and External Affairs for the Indianapolis Colts; Eric Halvorson, Manager of Corporate Affairs for Kroger; Heidi Spahn, Global Corporate and Community Investment Leader with Corteva Agriscience; and Corey L. Wilson, Senior Vice President of Community Engagement of Pacers Sports & Entertainment and Executive Director with the Pacers Foundation.

Each panelist illustrated how leaders in various industries are contributing to fighting food insecurity, and poverty as a whole. They answered some of the most pressing questions about the current state of hunger in Indiana, both from moderator Gerry Dick, of Inside INdiana Business, and the audience. Each panelist demonstrated how their companies and organizations are collaborating with other community leaders to address hunger. A central message: together, we can be part of the solution.
