One of our School-Based Pantry coordinators told us of a family who came to the school last year, upset because they had no food in the home. The school had been unaware of their situation, so they were not on the list to receive a Thanksgiving meal through the student council’s family meal program. “Thanks to the food in our Gleaners School-Based Pantry, we were able to provide food for the home and the holiday,” she said. “The selection of food we’ve received over the past months allowed us to provide her with a chicken, stuffing, gravy, and an assortment of fresh fruits and vegetables for their Thanksgiving dinner!”
