Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana President and CEO Fred Glass announced today that Shawna Sims-Caldwell has accepted the position of Chief Network Officer. As such, she will also be a member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). The promotion is effective Monday, March 13, 2023.
“The SLT and I were looking for a strategic thinker and someone who can get big things done in this role, and we found that person in Shawna,” said Glass. “She has demonstrated those two critical qualities, among many other positive ones, in her body of work here, previously at IndyHumane, and in her interview with the SLT.”
Sims-Caldwell brings more than 20 years of experience in developing long-term operational strategies to achieve organization and departmental goals. She has served as the Director of Hunger Relief Programs for Marion County since July 2022 overseeing the agency network for the county and initiating structure and clarity for her team, as well as leading innovation in technology and communication.
Prior to joining Gleaners, she served 20 years at IndyHumane in a variety of roles, with her final three years as Senior Director of Shelter Operations and a member of the organization’s senior leadership. She supervised a staff of 25 regular and 30 seasonal staff members in customer service, youth programs, volunteer programs, and animal behavior.
In her time there she also gained extensive experience developing and managing budgets and working diligently with its Board.
She attended Purdue University and IUPUI. A believer in lifelong learning, Sims-Caldwell is currently studying Korean and Spanish languages. An avid music lover, she plays the violin and guitar. Not surprisingly given her 20 years with IndyHumane, she is also an animal lover.
