Gleaners received a $150,000 grant from Glick Philanthropies to go toward a new truck and our mobile pantry program across central Indiana. Glick Philanthropies is a family of charitable initiatives. The initiatives focus on building community and creating opportunity so every person can reach their full potential. Gleaners is one of 39 nonprofit organizations that received a grant from Glick Philanthropies totaling more than $2 million.

Gleaners currently hosts nearly 40 mobile pantries across its 21-county service area. Just like Gleaners’ onsite distribution, the mobile pantries supply neighbors with essential protein, dairy, produce and other meal-making items. But unlike the onsite pantry, mobile pantries meet neighbors where they are — in some of the most vulnerable areas in both urban and rural neighborhoods. Increased funding to this program means expanded reach to more neighbors. A new truck means more efficient transportation of food to neighbors.

Glick Philanthropies awards grants to organizations serving central Indiana and communities where Gene B. Glick Company properties are located. Grants are focused on efforts that build community and create opportunity, including improving access to basic needs like nutritious food.

“Nonprofit organizations are uniquely positioned to understand community members’ needs, partner with them to provide support, and connect them to essential resources,” said Marianne Glick, chair of the Glick Family Foundation. “At Glick Philanthropies, our role is to walk alongside these nonprofit organizations to build community and create opportunity. We hope these grants empower our nonprofit partners to reach more people with thoughtful, innovative programs.”
