Food, water, and air are the three basic necessities for all human life. No one should be without access to all of these. But for one reason or another, groceries fall to the tail end of many budgets for those in need in central and southeast Indiana.
More than 260,000 Hoosiers are in need of food assistance and the reasons are vast. Hunger knows no boundaries, demographics or season. In central Indiana, no one should suffer from a lack of access to quality and nutritious food, but they do.
Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana envisions a community with food for every table and hope for every future. Our mission is to lead the fight against hunger, and we aim to do this by distributing food to local agency partners like food pantries and other entities that serve those in need as well as provide direct service programming such as the BackSacks: Weekend Food for Kids, School-Based Pantry, Summer Meals for Kids, and Mobile Pantry Programs.
