Leaders with Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana were thrilled to visit many of our Marion County Network partners earlier this month.
These visits give us a chance to connect with our network partners, ask feedback on the partnership, see how different pantries operate and learn more about what they are seeing in our communities.
Our first stop was VOICES, one of our newer network partners. We were inspired to learn about the many services they provide to youth and young adults and were excited to view their pantry.
It was evident the staff realizes people are in need of physical and mental care and work hard to incorporate programs that feed both the body and the mind as you can see from the wrap-around services provided.
We were so impressed with the care and attention given to community at Harshman Middle School.
Next, we headed to Harshman Middle School. Once again, the staff members were deeply passionate about ensuring family’s needs are met.
Their traditional pantry style allows speak openly about their livers and needs, even beyond food.
We were very impressed with the pantry manager’s caring touch and bright energy, as she works to ensure the space is organized and that families have a welcoming place.
We then visited The Excel Center University Heights, one of our Gleaners2Go partner sites.
We were once again met with a burst of friendly energy that is genuine and passionate.
Students at the Excel Center can access Gleaners To Go right onsite.
Staff was very excited about a new ordering platform they will start utilizing soon.
The space at The Excel Center is already well equipped to handle G2G orders, and we’re excited to see the benefits of having the program there for students dealing with many life challenges.
Lastly, we spent some time at Linwood Christian Church.
Operating a food pantry, serving meals, and operating a clothes pantry, the staff at Linwood Christian Church has created a truly safe space utilized by many neighbors.
Linwood Christian Church has created an essential space for neighbors to access fresh produce and other items.
The homey and welcoming environment we experienced is surely very comforting and needed for the neighbors they serve.
