The central Indiana hunger relief community came together Thursday, Feb. 21 for the 2026 Hunger and Health Breakfast, hosted by Gleaners and IBJ Media.

The breakfast is a time for leaders in health care and hunger relief to discuss the impact these issues have on our state.

At this year’s event on Thursday, Feb. 21, Gleaners President & CEO Fred Glass gave a keynote address, which was followed by a panel of five passionate community leaders committed to poverty alleviation.

That panel included Dr. Virginia Caine, Director and Chief Medical Officer at the Marion County Public Health Department; Jasmine Gonzalvo, Director of the Theresa Dimos Center for Health Excellence, Quality, and Innovation at the Purdue University College of Pharmacy; Richard Gordon, Director of Community Engagement at Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana; Ben Grande Director of Philanthropy at Glick Philanthropies, and Milele Kennedy Executive Director at Gennesaret Free Clinics.

Each panelist illustrated how collaboration among leaders in various industries is integral to fighting food insecurity and poverty as a whole. They answered some of the most pressing questions about the current state of hunger in Indiana, how technology has the potential to make an impact, and what everyone can do — both individually and as a collective — to make a difference. Attendees left the event with a simple message: together, we can be part of the solution.
